Stephanie Krompier

Can you tell us a bit about your education and career background?

I studied at an art school in New Zealand before moving to New York where I took a job as Senior Designer for an agency specializing in CPG (consumer packaged goods). Since then, my career working with global brands has taken me from New York to Chicago, even a year in Asia and now I'm back to New York.

Why did you choose to study at BrainStation?

When I compared schools teaching UX/UI, BrainStation offered the most comprehensive course for the price.

What motivated you to start digital skills training?

Branding has expanded to encompass all areas of the consumer journey and digital has become one of the main ways that a consumer interacts with a brand. Therefore, as a branding specialist, I need to understand design and boost my digital skills.

What was the highlight of your learning experience?

The highlight of my learning experience was finishing the course with a tangible case study to add to my portfolio.

What was the most challenging part of your learning experience?

I think the most challenging part was learning new software, such as Sketch and InVision.

How has your BrainStation experience impacted your career?

I can direct projects that have a digital component with confidence that I understand the fundamentals.

What would you say were the most valuable skills you learned?

One of the most valuable skills I learned with UX/UI, is understanding how important it is to follow the design process, as it has been developed for a reason.

How have you incorporated those skills into your current role?

I now know how to approach a digital design project, should it come my way.

What advice would you give to professionals considering a BrainStation course?

You'll get out of it what you put in. The course guides you but you'll need to bring the passion and creativity.
